Tito Jackson, an original member of The Jackson 5 and brother of Michael Jackson, has died aged 70.

The Jackson 5 was a pop group that formed in 1964 and originally included brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael. Although the Jackson family consisted of nine children, only five boys were a part of the band. Almost all of the other siblings, Rebbie, La Toya, Randy and Janet, have had impressive careers of their own.

The group quickly became a worldwide sensation with songs such as "I Want You Back," "Blame It On The Boogie" and "I'll Be There." After a series of Number 1 hits, the family group was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.

While the Jackson 5 have never officially broken up, the group has had multiple changes of members and hasn't released new music.

Here, Newsweek has detailed what has happened to the original five members over the years.

Tito Jackson

Toriano Adaryll "Tito" Jackson, born in 1953, was the third of the nine Jackson children. While he was in The Jackson 5 he played guitar and provided backing vocals.

Years after the group disbanded, he continued to tour with his brothers, Jackie and Marlon, and on September 8 they performed at a festival in the United Kingdom. The musician had also previously released two albums under his own name: Tito Time (2016) and Under Your Spell (2021).

His death was announced by his sons Taj, Taryll and TJ Jackson on Instagram Sunday. An official cause of death is yet to be announced.

"It's with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson is no longer with us. We are shocked, saddened and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being," they wrote.

Jackie Jackson

Jackie Jackson—born Sigmund Esco Jackson—is the second child of the Jackson family and the oldest Jackson brother, born in 1951.

In addition to being a founding member of the group, Jackie has recorded solo albums. His debut record Jackie Jackson came out in 1973 and his second solo record, Be The One, came out in 1989.

He performed with his brothers Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon in a number of Las Vegas shows in 2012.

Jackie has been married three times and has four children.

Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson, born in 1958, was the best-known member of the band before he died in 2009.

The eighth child of the Jackson family, the singer joined the band when he was only six. Otherwise known as the "King of Pop," he went on to become the world's most celebrated pop star and is considered one of the most significant cultural figures of the 20th century.

Michael is one of the best-selling music artists of all time. He won 15 Grammys, including a lifetime achievement award that he was given in 2010 following his death.

His other honors include a Golden Globe Award and 39 Guinness World Records, including the "Most Successful Entertainer of All Time." He also scored thirteen number-one hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and was the first musician to have a top-ten hit in five separate decades on the chart.

Michael died from cardiac arrest, caused by a propofol and benzodiazepine overdose. His brothers Tito, Marlon, Jackie, Jermaine and Randy served as pallbearers at his memorial.

He was survived by his three children; Prince, Paris, and Bigi, formerly known as Blanket.

Jermaine Jackson

Jermaine LaJuane Jackson, the fourth child in the Jackson family, was born in 1954.

As the third lead singer of the Jackson 5 after Jackie and Michael, Jermaine sang notable parts of "I'll Be There" and "I Want You Back."

Jermaine left the band in 1976 to start a solo career with Motown Records and was replaced by his brother Randy. He ended up returning to the band in 1984 when it had been renamed as the Jacksons.

The singer has had a successful solo career with a number of Billboard top-30 hits throughout the 1970s and 1980s, including "Daddy's Home," "That's How Love Goes" and "Let's Be Young Tonight."

He has also had stints on reality TV, having appeared on the Celebrity Big Brother house in the U.K. in 2007, the CMT reality show Gone Country and the ABC reality show Celebrity Wife Swap.

Jermaine has been married and divorced three times and has seven children.

Marlon Jackson

Marlon David Jackson, born in 1957, is the sixth Jackson sibling. He hasn't had as a successful solo career as the rest of his family, instead opting for various business ventures.

In 1987 he released his solo album Baby Tonight and then founded the Major Broadcasting Cable Network (MBC) in 1999, a religious network based in Atlanta. In 2004 it was renamed the Black Family Channel and in 2007 it was sold to the Gospel Music Channel. In 2008, Marlon founded the Motherland Group, LLC.

He now runs the Study Peace Foundation, which was founded in 2015, to promote peace and unity worldwide.

Marlon has three children with his partner Carol Ann Parker.
