Actor Ayo Edebiri posted a tongue-in-cheek photo to her Instagram story on Sunday where she hid co-star Jeremy Allen White's face.

Edebiri and White both star in The Bear, a television series that sees a fine-dining chef return home to Chicago to run his family sandwich shop after a death in his family. When the 76th annual Primetime Emmy Awards took place on September 15 the hit series took home 11 awards.

These awards included White, who plays Carmy, winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who plays cousin Richie, winning for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series and Liza Colón-Zayas, who plays Tina, winning for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Christopher Storer also won Best Directing for a Comedy Series.

To celebrate Colón-Zayas' win, Edebiri shared a picture of the two of them hugging, with the word "FOREVER." White could also be seen in the background, which Edebiri decided to hide with a green heart emoji.

"J looks good he's just blinking and I want to respect that," she wrote above his head.

Newsweek has emailed spokespeople for Edebiri and White for further comment on Monday.

Edebiri and White have a close friendship and during his acceptance speech on Sunday, White thanked his fellow nominees and lauded praise on his cast members.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you so much, my heart is just beating right out of its chest. Thank you to the Academy, to my fellow nominees, I am so honored to be in your company," he said at the beginning of his speech.

Later, he addressed his "beautiful cast," saying: "I love you forever, I love to work with you, and I just want us to be in each other's lives forever. I love you so dearly."

The camera cut to Edebiri's face who looked emotional in the crowd.

White also stressed the show's important message that "change is possible, if you are able to reach out, you are never really truly actually alone."

Despite the show's success of the night, Edebiri missed out on the Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series accolade for her portrayal of Sydney Adamu.

Viewers took to X, formerly Twitter, to express their frustration over the fact that she didn't win an Emmy given the recognition her co-stars received.

"how did every single cast member from the bear (that was nominated) EXCEPT ayo win... that's crazy," one X user wrote.

"Everybody from the bear going home with an Emmy but Ayo Edebiri????" asked another.

"i was mid 'ayo edebiri 2 time emmy winner' tweet," a third X user added, alongside a photo of Sandy from SpongeBob SquarePants being punched in the face.

However, Edebiri did win Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for The Bear at the 75th Emmy Awards. The 2023 ceremony was held on January 15, 2024, as it had been delayed due to the writers' and actors' strikes that took place that year.
