Kate Beckinsale has sent fans wild with a snap showing her covered in fake blood as she snuggled with her baby girl on the set of 2001's blockbuster movie Pearl Harbor.

The actress' Instagram followers bombarded her with sweet comments after she uploaded the throwback of her and daughter Lily Sheen on Instagram—and she'd racked up more than 20,000 likes within just two hours of posting the snap.

Beckinsale shot the war drama 23 years ago when Lily, who she shares with her ex Michael Sheen, was just two years old. But the actress evidently made sure she joined her behind the scenes, with the post showing Lily perched on her lap in between takes.

Lily was wearing a white bonnet and waving a makeup brush, while Beckinsale was made up to look bloodied and bruised for a scene. The star, 51, told her followers that the toddler wasn't bothered by all the gore as they just told her that it was jam.

"TS of Pearl Harbor with my gorgeous, tiny but extremely verbal nugget," Beckinsale wrote. "We told her Mama is just covered in jam today and she was unfazed."

Fans loved the glimpse into Lily's early days and the post has currently received 23,278 likes on the platform, and followers of British actor Beckinsale called it "adorable."

"She's gorgeous and hasn't changed a bit," one person wrote in the comments section. "WOW even more respect for you making that incredibly enduring film—whilst having just had a tiny human."

"What a sweet photo, takes between nappies (diapers) and feedings, I can imagine how tiring that was, you smashed it," said someone else. "That's gold," remarked one fan, as another said it was "the cutest thing ever."

"Covered in jam," commented one amused admirer, along with a laughing emoji. Beckinsale responded with a single red heart.

The actress was in a relationship with Sheen from 1995 to 2003 after they met while co-starring in a production of The Seagull and fell for each other. They welcomed Lily in 1999.

The actress is very close to Lily, who is now 25, and has often teased her in lighthearted posts on social media. The star once shared an embarrassing snap of Lily making faces and on another occasion recreated her birth scene for an Instagram photo.

Lily is now following her parents into acting but has previously joked that her mum would probably rather she did something else. In 2022 she told People that the actress would have liked her to be surgeon.

"I don't think that was on the cards," she laughed. "You wouldn't want me to be doing any surgeries. And I think she knows that!"

Newsweek has contacted representatives for Beckinsale for comment.
