The life of a celebrity can be overwhelming — even for the children of celebrities.
In an interview on The Skinny Confidential podcast which dropped on Monday, September 16, Kourtney Kardashian revealed that she is very protective of her kids — Mason, 14, and Penelope, 12, and allowed them the share a bed with her until surprising ages in their respective childhoods.
Kardashian, 45, revealed that up until Mason was 7 years old, she shared a bed with him, noting that it felt "natural and instinctual" to her.
"I mean also part of it [was] like at a certain time I would put him to bed in his room and then he would come to my room," Kardashian said. "And then at 7 he just stopped and he was like, 'I'm done with you, I sleep in my own room.'"
Elsewhere in the podcast, Kardashian shared that Penelope, who just turned 12 this past July, slept in bed with her until she was 11.
After Kardashian revealed her arrangements, listeners were left divided — as evidenced by posts on X (formerly Twitter). Some believe this is something Kardashian should've kept to herself.
"Maybe Penelope didn't want the world to know about her sleeping arrangements.... Ever think about that? Huh Kourtney?! Huh??," said one person.
Another person appeared to defend Kardashian, however, suggested that her kids may have been too old.
"Co-sleeping can be beneficial for young children, but 11 might be pushing it," they said.
Someone else supported Kardashian's choice, saying "Not every child emotionally matures the same. Some have unexpressed separation anxiety. The mother was a rock, Scott was absent often."
Kardashian shares Mason and Penelope, as well as son Reign, 9, with her ex Scott Disick. She welcomed her fouth child, son Rocky, with her husband, Travis Barker, back in November 2023.
Kardashian shared that as she and the children have been following the Blink-182 drummer, 48, on tour, this has affected their sleep schedule. But she did share that Rocky still sleeps with the two of them, and that Barker is on board.
"Of course, I also read all the benefits and hear all the benefits," Kardashian said. "And I mean, it's something that mammals have been doing since time existed."
Toward the end of the podcast, Kardashian admitted that her mother, Kris Jenner, has expressed resistance over Kardashian and her family's sleeping arrangements. However, Kardashian stood by her choices, saying, "It's not her baby and she's done having kids."
