Camilla Luddington and Jessica Capshaw have revealed that they "did not get along" when they first met.

Luddington, who joined Grey's Anatomy in 2012 as Dr. Josephine "Jo" Wilson, co-hosts the podcast Call It What It Is alongside her friend and former Grey's Anatomy star, Capshaw. Capshaw portrayed pediatric surgeon Arizona Robbins and was a regular on the show before departing in March 2018.

Though their on-screen characters didn't share a strong connection, the actors developed a friendship off screen. Now, they share personal stories and experiences on their podcast. However, during a recent episode titled "Call It Scrubbing In," the duo revealed that things weren't always smooth between them.

During the episode, which featured Scrubbing In podcast hosts Tanya Rad and Becca Tilley, the conversation turned to first impressions and how Rad and Tilley hadn't been friends initially. Capshaw and Luddington could relate, admitting that their relationship also had a rocky start.

"No, this is our story a little bit too, because we did not get along," Capshaw confessed.

"I didn't like her so much... she didn't really know it," Luddington added.

"I did know it; she made it very obvious, you guys," Capshaw replied.

This isn't the first time the actors have discussed the early tension between them. During the very first episode of their podcast, Capshaw explained that her initial feelings toward Luddington stemmed from her own insecurities after giving birth.

"I did not like you, but I didn't not like you," Capshaw clarified, describing how she had been feeling vulnerable after returning to work post-childbirth.

"When I first met you, I had just had a baby and was coming back to work. I was feeling very insecure about pretty much everything. When you're insecure, you're not receptive to the world and tend to doubt everyone and everything around you, but mostly yourself."

Capshaw, who shares four children with husband Christopher Gavigan, noted that she hadn't taken much time off after giving birth. Luddington chimed in: "You left the hospital and, like, Ubered to set."

"I Ubered to the table read!" Capshaw responded.

Returning to work, Capshaw felt self-conscious about Luddington, who was among the new cast members.

"I might have shown up to set, and people were buzzing about this beautiful new woman joining the show," she recalled.

"I wasn't feeling my sharpest, and suddenly, there I was, looking at this beautiful, young actress, and I wasn't feeling myself. I thought, 'I don't know if I'm going to like her.'"

The two eventually bonded after they were the only ones to show up to a cast dinner at a sushi restaurant.

"We just fell in love," Luddington recalled, reflecting on how their friendship began. "And that was our first year working together."

Now, years later, both actors have put those initial tensions behind them, forming a strong friendship that they share with listeners on their podcast.
