While Lady Gaga is known for being outspoken about social justice causes, and has historically endorsed Democratic candidates in elections, her father, Joe Germanotta, is singing a different tune than the pop artist.

Germanotta, 68, appeared on Fox & Friends on Thursday, September 18, where he officially endorsed Republican candidate Donald Trump. He cited Trump's supposed patriotism as reasoning for his vote, and slammed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the process.

"One of them is pure and he's a patriot," said Germanotta. "And the other is just going to say what she needs to say to get elected."

The restaurant owner and entrepreneur continued, saying that while he may not agree with Trump's delivery, he backs his policies.

"He's abrasive," said Germanotta, "but he's a patriot and his policies are there."

Germanotta owns famed Italian restaurant Joanne Trattoria, located in the Upper West Side of New York City. But in the conversation, he suggested that as a result of the economy during the current Joe Biden and Harris administration that the amount of regular customers visiting the regularly has dwindled.

He also slammed Biden-Harris' immigration policies.

"We don't have secure borders anymore," said Germanotta. "There's no more legal immigration."

Toward the end of the segment, Germanotta gives Trump his official seal of approval, and also thanks X (formerly Twitter) CEO Elon Musk for allowing "freedom of speech" on his platform.

At the time of writing, Gaga hasn't commented on her father's endorsement of Trump, nor has she officially endorsed a candidate. However, she notably liked Taylor Swift's Instagram post endorsing Harris in the 2024 election last week.
