When discussing Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's relationship, Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid couldn't help but use a football analogy.
On the debut episode of the Scoop City podcast — which is part of The New York Times' The Athletic — Reid remarked how Kelce, 34, can take a backseat while at a Swift show.
"When he goes to her concerts, she's a star. And he can be hanging out there and be the support or the waterboy," the head coach shared on the Tuesday, July 16, episode of the podcast.
"I think there's a great escape for him," Reid continued, adding that he made the same remark "about Taylor, too."
"I mean, she comes to the game, she can kind of escape having to be the show," he elaborated.
However, as fans know, Kelce hasn't been just the "waterboy" on the Eras Tour. In addition to being filmed by fans every time he attends a concert — as is Swift whenever she's at a Chiefs game — the tight end made a surprise appearance on stage at one of Swift's London shows late last month.
"I'm still cracking up/swooning over @killatrav's Eras Tour debut 🥰," the Grammy winner, 34, gushed over her boyfriend's viral moment via Instagram.
For his part, Kelce — who carried the singer across the stage as part of the act — did utilize some football advice during the moment.
"[Former Chiefs coordinator] Coach Bieniemy always used to say, 'That ball has our dreams, goals, and aspirations. You do not drop that ball,'" he laughed when recalling the moment on his and brother Jason Kelce's New Heights podcast earlier this month.
"The one thing I told myself is: 'Do not drop the baby. Do not drop Taylor on your way over to this damn couch,'" Travis noted. "I was gonna do some extra stuff — and who knows, maybe if I ever do it again, I might do it — but the golden rule was to not drop Taylor."
In fact, the whole surprise cameo was Travis' idea. After bringing it up to Swift — who thought it would be hilarious — the "Anti-Hero" artist asked her boyfriend if he'd be down.
"I was just like, 'What? I would love to do that, are you kidding me? I've seen the show enough — might as well put me to work here,'" he shared on New Heights. "And sure enough, she found the perfect part of the show for me to come in."
When it comes to supporting Travis in his career, Swift may get some time to cheer on her boyfriend with her friends and family — but she's also passively generating massive income for the team and the league. Her mere presence alone has already garnered the Chiefs $331.5 million, one expert claimed back in February.
Reid, for his part, has previously spoken out about Travis and Swift's romance.
"She's great," he said of Swift in March. "I'm happy that they're happy."
