Stephen King has once again poked fun at billionaire Elon Musk for renaming the social-media platform previously known as Twitter.

The Tesla CEO bought Twitter in October 2022 in a $44 billion deal and brought in a swathe of changes, including renaming the platform to X.

The writer and Musk have often butted heads on X, including King's refusal to acknowledge the name change.

His latest jab at Musk came through reposting a video he shared to X, showing what seemed to be a computer-generated image of a giant X structure looming large over skyscrapers in an unnamed city.

Musk posted it without comment on Thursday evening, but King was having none of it.

"Twitter. Twitter, Twitter. Twitter, Twitter, Twitter," King captioned his repost of Musk's video in a viral post that has received almost 3 million views at the time of writing.

Newsweek contacted the X press office and King's representatives by email for comment.

It is not the first time that King has criticized Musk's running of X.

Just a month into the billionaire's ownership of X, King wrote on the platform: "I think Elon Musk is a visionary. Almost single-handedly, he's changed the way Americans think about automobiles. I have a Tesla and love it. That said, he's been a terrible fit for Twitter. He appears to be making it up as he goes along."

To which Musk replied, "Suggestions are welcome Mr. [King]," using a crown emoji in place of King's last name.

Another user wrote in that thread from November 2022 that Musk should invite King to Twitter headquarters in San Francisco to "have a face-to-face conversation," a post to which Musk simply replied: "He is invited!"

The pair have often clashed on the site, including earlier this year where King once again refused to call X by its new name.

In November, King wrote, "This X s***'s got to go." He added the hashtag "#ChangeItBack."

Musk saw King's post and simply responded, "š¯•¸š¯•¸," and added an emoji of a face blowing a kiss.

Then, in February this year, King once again affirmed his distaste for the X rebrand.

"Dear Elon: Twitter. Twitter, Twitter. Twitter, Twitter, Twitter. Twitter, Twitter, Twitter, Twitter. And so on. F*** your need to put your personal brand on everything. Just because you bought it doesn't mean you own it," King posted on X in February.

King rose to fame as a popular horror author known for titles such as It and Pet Sematary.
