Nicole Kidman does not often speak of ex-husband Tom Cruise, with whom she finalized her divorce in 2001.

However, in an interview with the Los Angeles Times shared on Tuesday, July 16, Kidman spoke a bit about her marriage, and how it may have inspired director Stanley Kubrick. In the piece, which happened to be shared on the 25th anniversary of Eyes Wide Shut's release, the actress mused, "I suppose he was mining it."

"He'd ask a lot of questions," the Oscar winner said, referring to Kubrick's curiosity about their real-life relationship, which began in early 1990. "But he had a strong sense of the story he was telling. I do remember him saying, 'Triangles are hard. You have to tread carefully when it's a triangle.' Because one person could feel ganged up on. But he was aware of that and knew how to manage us."

She also detailed how much time the then-couple spent in their movie trailer. "By the end, we're learning how to make pasta because he's a great cook, Sydney [Pollack]," Kidman said. "Stanley would come to our trailer, we'd eat. In the little kitchen in our trailer, Sydney would make this unbelievable artichoke pasta with [Parmigiano-]Reggiano and this incredible olive oil and roast chicken."

"We had a home 10 minutes away, but we lived in that trailer," Kidman shared, of the almost two-year shoot. "Tom and I shared it because Stanley would say, 'You're not each getting a trailer. We can't afford it.' Tom had a smaller area because he was running stuff. And he'd play video games."

She admitted that the most common question she gets asked about Eyes Wide Shut is about how long it took to make. "They want to know what it was like to spend that much time making it, which I understand. It was two years of our lives!" she told the publication.

However, she told The New York Times that she and Cruise both "loved working with him [Kubrick]." She continued, "We were happily married through that," shooting down rumors that the tense material in the film affected their relationship.

"We had two kids and were living in a trailer on the lot primarily, making spaghetti because Stanley liked to eat with us sometimes," Kidman said, referring to her and Cruise's adopted children, Isabella, 31, and Connor, 29. "We were working with the greatest filmmaker and learning about our lives and enjoying our lives on set."

Kidman and Cruise tied the knot in 1990, not long after they had met, and in February 2001, the latter filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences." Cruise went on to marry his now-ex Katie Holmes in 2006, with whom he shares daughter Suri, 18. Kidman went on to marry country singer Keith Urban in 2006, with whom she shares daughters Sunday Rose, 16, and Faith Margaret, 13.
