Ryan Reynolds knows to never ignore a call from wife Blake Lively, even if he's in the middle of an interview.

On Wednesday, July 24, Reynolds, 47, and his Deadpool & Wolverine co-star Hugh Jackman guest hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live. Reynolds was taking his turn interviewing Jackman, 55, and asked him a personal question about his late father. "I was there at the end, and I'll just never forget that moment and what he said to me," Jackman was saying, before being interrupted by a phone ringing.

Reynolds quickly notes that it's Lively, 36, saying, "We always promised each other we would answer in the middle of something." As Jackman looks on in shock, you can hear Lively saying, "Hi, baby. Is now an okay time?" To Jackman's surprise, Reynolds says it is, noting that they are "just rehearsing." The audience roared in laughter as Jackman continued to sit in stunned silence.

"I love you so much. I'm just bored and want to catch up," Lively gushes, and Reynolds tilts the phone to show Lively the audience, and say hi to Kimmel's sidekick, Guillermo Rodriguez. The father-of-four begins describing the stage manager, Alec, before noticing, "he looks really upset right now, so I'm just going to get off the phone. I'm so sorry."

To break the tension, Reynolds cuts to a clip from their upcoming film, Deadpool & Wolverine. In the clip, Deadpool can be seen giving Wolverine a hard time about his costume, quipping, "Friends don't let friends leave the house looking like they fight crime for the Los Angeles Rams." The funny moment was clearly a planned bit between the pair, who have been playfully teasing each other throughout the promotional tour for their film.

Earlier in the month, Jackman posted a picture of Reynolds in a white tank top on his Instagram, captioning it, "You want me to put this away?" — Ryan Reynolds, co-star, mouth breather, a**hole." As usual, Reynolds was quick with the response, posting, "This photo is from my private collection. How dare you?"

Ever the good sport, Lively also joined in on the fun, sharing a spicy comment on the Instagram post. "My thirst has been trapped," the actress shared, sending fans into a frenzy. One fan joked, "@blakelively this is why you have 4 kids! 🔥🙌😂." She and Reynolds, who tied the knot in 2012, share James, 9, Inez, 7, Betty, 4, and Olin, whom they welcomed in 2023.

Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters on July 26, 2024.
