Jordan Peele is once again fusing the lines between horror and hilarity with a reboot of the classic hidden camera show, Scare Tactics. Slated for the USA Network, this revival promises to deliver both screams and laughs, capturing oblivious victims as they navigate terrifying, movie-inspired pranks.

On Thursday, July 25, the 45-year-old Oscar-winning filmmaker's Monkeypaw Productions, known for redefining horror with films like Get Out and Us, was given the greenlight to produce the new series. Similar to the beloved original that aired from 2003 to 2013, the show will feature hidden cameras to record the reactions of the pranked as they face elaborately staged, horrifying scenarios.

According to the network, the comedy-horror remake "will turn unsuspecting individuals into the main characters of their very own horror movies. This heart-pounding show offers a cinematic approach to the hidden camera concept. Set up by their friends and family, these unwitting participants are put in hilariously twisted scenarios with fully immersive stories that blur the lines of reality, horror and comedy. As they navigate one unreal decision after another, audiences will laugh, jump and be left breathless for more."

In the same press release, NBCUniversal Entertainment's Executive Vice President of Unscripted Content, Corie Henson, shared, "This brilliant reimagining of the classic 'Scare Tactics' has it all — laughs, jump scares and outrageous moments. In the hands of Jordan and Monkeypaw, you never know what's coming next!"

Monkeypaw Productions took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the exciting news, and the response from fans was overwhelmingly positive. Conversations erupted with questions and praise: "How do we become a guest?" asked one fan, while another couldn't hide their excitement, saying, "This made my whole year! I can't wait to see the twisted scenarios you all cook up!" The accolades didn't stop there; another admirer praised Peele, noting, "Love how he didn't limit himself to just one network. He literally works everywhere... Amazing and congrats JP!!" Meanwhile, someone else proclaimed, "Greatest news of the century and I'd love to be involved in any way possible."

Scare Tactics first hit screens in 2003 on Syfy, initially hosted by Shannen Doherty. After a brief hiatus post-2004, the show returned in 2008 with Tracy Morgan as host, concluding in 2013 after five seasons. The reimagined classic will premiere with Peele and Monkeypaw Productions at the helm in Fall 2024.
