Donald Trump is not "very conservative," according to Amber Rose, who highlighted the presidential candidate's stance on abortion.

Rose's latest comments came after she received backlash from both sides of the political aisle following her speech at the Republican National Convention (RNC). A former vocal critic of Trump, Rose publicly endorsed him in May.

During an appearance on The Candace Owens Show, abortion rights activist Rose said: "I don't think Donald Trump is very conservative." Asked to expand on that, she added: "He's pro-choice. I don't think that's very conservative."

Newsweek has contacted representatives of Rose and Trump's campaign via email for further comment.

In response to Rose's words on abortion, Owens said: "It's definitely not Christian. So, people can say you're fiscally conservative."

During her speech at the RNC, Rose said: "I realized Donald Trump and his supporters don't care if you're Black, white, gay or straight. It's all love. And that's when it hit me: These are my people. This is where I belong."

Her speech at the RNC was criticized by some Republicans, in part due to Rose's spearheading of the Los Angeles SlutWalk—a feminist movement that campaigns against sexual violence and body shaming.

Self-described "theocratic fascist" and anti-transgender rights campaigner Matt Walsh complained on X (formerly Twitter) that Rose's speech was an "embarrassment" and criticized the Republican party for "giving a primetime speaking platform to a primetime speaking slot to a pro-abortion feminist and self-proclaimed slut with a face tattoo whose only claim to fame is having sex with rappers."

Responding to Owens' questions about how the backlash affected her, Rose cited "religious people" like Walsh as being the reason she went on her "atheist journey."

However, others had a more positive reaction to Rose's speech. "The RNC should continue embracing people like Amber Rose," conservative YouTuber Christian Watson wrote on X.

Elsewhere, Republican political strategist Scott Jennings said on CNN that Rose's speech was "how you change the composition of the electorate."

Trump has answered questions on abortion rights in the lead-up to the election by saying it should be left up to individual states to decide. In April, he declined to endorse a national abortion ban. His latest position on abortion in his campaign policy platform was just four sentences long. This softer stance comes as Democrats are counting on the issue of abortion to a key means of securing votes come November.
