Hailey Welch, the "hawk tuah" viral sensation, was left stunned while appearing on Bill Maher's Club Random podcast, following the comedian's comments about porn.
Welch shot to viral fame in July after she was stopped by podcasters Tim and Dee during a night on the town in Nashville, Tennessee. When asked: "What's one move in bed that makes a man go crazy every time?" Welch replied: "You gotta give 'em that 'hawk tuah' and spit on that thing."
"Hawk tuah" is the sound someone makes while spitting.
The 23-year-old from Belfast, Tennessee, has since made several public appearances, including judging a bikini contest in Florida—for which she was reportedly paid $30,000—and a stop at the Rock The South Festival in Alabama.
During the latest episode of his Club Random podcast, released on Sunday, Maher gave Welch tips on how to capitalize on her newfound celebrity status. The 68-year-old suggested she consider broadcasting, specifically, a career as a "sex expert."
"Because you have already a platform," Maher said. "You know what it is? I got it already. You need to do a podcast, you do it right here on Club Random, if you do it my way, sex expert."
Seemingly shocked by the suggestion, Welch bursts into giggles, before Maher said: "I'll tell you why."
"You were given the chip of fame, now you want to trade that in for something that uses that but takes it to the next level," he told her. "You have to trade on what you're already known for. That's the one thing you're known for."
However, Maher advised Welch not to choose "something frivolous."
"You have to take it seriously," he said. "Talk about sex, but serious, serious issues, because there are a lot of really serious issues. There's one that's related to what made you famous."
"What am I going to say?" Maher asked Welch. "You have no idea what I going to say?"
"I don't know," Welch replied, becoming embarrassed. "I'm kind of nervous."
"I'll tell you where it's going," Maher said. "You learned that thing about spitting from porn."
In response, Welch appeared stunned, going wide-eyed before breaking out in a fit of giggles.
"Maybe not directly," Maher continued, before calling spitting during sex "gross."
"It's not necessary, it never existed before porn," he said. "Do you know that? Do you realize that?"
"Porn is not benign," he added. "It has warped the minds of the kids in your generation, especially the guys."
"Yeah, they come up with some sick s***," Welch said in agreement.

Alongside her paid public appearances, Welch is rumored to have filed trademarks for "Hawk Tuah Sauce" and "Bet on That Thang"—the name of a proposed sports betting service—according to TMZ.
She has also hired a lawyer and a manager, as well as set up an Instagram account (@hay_welch) that has already racked up over 2 million followers.
The internet star has been fighting off requests to start an OnlyFans account. In a video to Instagram on July 3, Welch made it clear that she will "never" set one up.
"Stop asking me for the link in bio for my OnlyFans," she said. "I don't have an OnlyFans and there will never be an OnlyFans. I just—I just make funny jokes, that's all I do."
