Like many working moms, Blake Lively says it can be overwhelming to balance the strong passion she feels for both her career and her personal life. She takes her work "very, very seriously," and that means being completely focused when she's on set.
According to the actress, 36, that's not always easy. "When you're working," she said, "sometimes you feel guilty for, you know, not being in your personal life in those hours you're at work," she told Entertainment Tonight.
Lively has been on the press circuit with actress and comedian Jenny Slate to promote their upcoming film It Ends With Us, which premieres August 9. Lively and Slate, 42, appear to have bonded over being mothers of young children. "Just knowing that someone was having that same experience was very grounding," Lively told the outlet. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants star shares four kids with her husband, Ryan Reynolds – daughters James, 9, Inez, 7 and Betty, 4, and son Olin, 1. Slate shares a 3-year-old daughter named Ida with her husband, Ben Shattuck.
Lively and Reynolds have made an effort to keep their family together even when they're working. Lively, along with James, Inez, and Olin, made cameos in Reynolds' summer blockbuster Deadpool and Wolverine as multiversal doppelgängers of Deadpool. Betty received a shoutout in the credits with the title of "Hugh Jackman Wrangler." It will be a long time before any of the kids are ready to watch that R-rated superhero film, and Lively has noticed that not many of her films are kid-friendly. "Honestly, Savages, not a movie for my children to see. The Town—not on the top list, I'd have to say. You know it's a rough one, my filmography," the star joked to E! News.
The Gossip Girl star isn't slowing down any time soon – she just released a hair-care line, Blake Brown Beauty, on Monday, August 5. She is next slated to appear in a sequel to her 2018 film A Simple Favor.
