Kamala Harris officially announced Tim Walz as her running mate in the 2024 presidential election — and it didn't take long for Taylor Swift fans to claim him as one of their own.

On Tuesday, August 6, immediately after the 60-year-old governor of Minnesota accepted Harris' offer to be her vice-presidential pick, Swifties began digging up and quoting Walz's old tweets about the 14-time Grammy winner.

"SWIFTIE VP!! TICKETMASTER COUNT YOUR DAYS BABYYYYY!!!!!!!!" one fan wrote via X (formerly known as Twitter) on Monday, referring to Walz's November 2023 tweet about trying — and failing — to score tickets to Swift's Eras Tour.

"Afton after being online all day and not getting Taylor Swift tickets," the governor posted at the time, alongside a photo of his cat with its mouth wide open, seemingly angry at the whole Eras Tour Ticketmaster fiasco.

Another fan was hoping that Walz's resurfaced Swiftie tweet meant that Swift would publicly announce her support for the Harris-Walz ticket.

"When taylor quotes this with 'now let's see aftons face after you secured the vp nom' then he replies with a new picture of his cat then she gives him eras tour tickets and him and kamala SWEEP come november ofmggggggg," they propheszed.

Despite his own apparent lack of tickets to the Eras Tour, Walz further flaunted his fandom in June 2023, when he declared June 23 and 24 — the two nights that year Swift's Eras Tour came to town — as "Taylor Swift Days."

Walz's fellow politicians, including Minnesota Sen. Matt Klein, also pointed out on Monday that the Democratic VP contender came through for Swifties in a big — legal — way, signing the ticket integrity bill, nicknamed the "Taylor Swift Bill," in May.

"Remembering when @GovTimWalz signed our nation leading ticket integrity bill (Taylor Swift bill) at First Avenue," Klein wrote via X on Monday. (The bill "will strengthen consumer protections for ticket buyers," per the official government of Minnesota's press release at the time, noting that it "reforms the processes related to the sale, advertisement, and resale of tickets for concerts, sports, and cultural events" — something Swifties have strongly been advocating for during the singer's Eras Tour.)

Even beyond his policies, perhaps the response that best sums up fans' reactions to Walz's own fandom is this one by content creator Ellie Schnitt: "Well sure he fed schoolchildren and the labor movement likes him and he said the uncommitted movement should have their voices heard but the REAL genius of a Walz VP pick is that he is a verified and serious swiftie," she tweeted on Monday, incorporating the governor's name into the lyrics of "Long Live," one of Swift's biggest, fan-favorite anthems. "Long live the Walz we crashed thru baby!!!"

Swift, for her part, previously endorsed Harris — sharing a photo of herself with "Biden-Harris 2020" cookies four years ago. She also shared a photo of her November 2020 V magazine cover, in which she publicly declared her support for the POTUS and VP.

"So apt that (the cover has) come out on the night of the VP debate," she captioned the post at the time. "Gonna be watching and supporting @kamalaharris by yelling at the tv a lot."

She has also certainly taken a strong stance against former president Donald Trump, who is running for reelection this year.

Following the May 2020 Black Lives Matter rallies in response to the murder of George Floyd, Swift wasted no time in slamming Trump's remarks.

"After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence? 'When the looting starts the shooting starts'??? We will vote you out in November. @realdonaldtrump," she tweeted at the time.
