Rapper and Donald Trump fan Lil Pump has gone viral for his comments about Vice President Kamala Harris' race.

On X, formerly Twitter, the "Gucci Gang" hitmaker posted a photo of himself in a MAGA baseball cap. In the caption, he wrote his opinion of Harris' ethnicity: "REMINDER: Kamala Harris isn't black, she's Indian."

The message has been viewed more than 156,000 times since the rapper posted it on Monday.

Harris, whose mother is Indian and whose father is Jamaican, has self-identified as both Black and South Asian, but her race was brought into question recently by her Republican competitor in this year's presidential election.

Trump accused her of promoting only her Indian heritage until recently. "So I don't know, is she Indian or is she Black?" he said during an appearance at the National Association of Black Journalists convention in July. He also said Harris "happened to turn Black."

The reactions to Lil Pump's post were mixed.

"The Trump campaign needs to stop asking celebrities with forehead tattoos to endorse them," one X user wrote.

Another added: "Thanks Lil Pump! You know politics more than any other american and I think I speak for everyone."

"Says the racially ambiguous person," a commenter said.

Lil Pump—whose real name is Gazzy Garcia—said in a 2018 interview with rapper J. Cole that his parents were from Colombia.

The rapper began publicly endorsing Trump in 2020, appearing at one of his rallies in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in the fall of that year.

Lil Pump came under fire earlier this year when he shared a photo of his newest tattoo: a portrait of the former president's face on his thigh.

The tattoo was a re-creation of Trump's mug shot following his arrest in Fulton County, Georgia, in August 2023 on allegations of attempting to overturn the state's 2020 election results.

Many Black celebrities have voiced their support for Trump ahead of November's election, with the recently announced "Black Americans for Trump" coalition boasting endorsements from elected officials, athletes, entertainers, community leaders and pastors from within the Black community.

Notable figures in that coalition include model Amber Rose, rapper Kodak Black and former baseball player Darryl Strawberry.

"While Black Americans have been left behind by Joe Biden, President Trump has prioritized the Black community," Janiyah Thomas, the Trump campaign's Black media director, said in a statement about the coalition when it launched in June.

She added, "Donald J. Trump's coalition message to the Black community is simple: If you want to return to the policies that created rising wages, more quality jobs, stronger borders, and safer neighborhoods, then join Black Americans for Trump and vote for President Trump in November."
