The final video of the TikTok star known as the "Dancing Engineer" has gained traction online following his death on August 18.

Jainer Moises Pinedo Vargas shot to internet stardom in 2021 with his choreography for the song "No se" by Explosion de Iquitos. He then became known for uploading amusing dance videos to social media, where he had hundreds of thousands of followers.

Vargas' death was due to complications from dengue fever, a viral infection that is spread by infected mosquitoes. According to OK!, the 34-year-old contracted the infection while traveling in Condorcanqui Province, Peru.

Weeks before he died, Vargas uploaded a video to Instagram and TikTok of himself dancing while in hospital. In the clip, he is standing next to his hospital bed while wearing a gown and a nasogastric tube and as he moves, his diaper falls off.

"I've wanted to do this trend for a long time. Now with 20% energy I can do it. Obviously my 'calvin kleins' fell off," he wrote in the text over the top of the video, addressing the mishap.

He wrote in the Instagram caption: "Sick people who don't dance don't die!! We are only with 20% of energy." At the time of writing, the video on this platform had been viewed over 225,000 times.

On TikTok, he wrote in the caption: "Thurday's attitude with my little sister!! We're only at 20% energy, but we'll be moving these bodies and hips in good time!!"

At the time of writing, the video had 8.5 million views and had been liked over 188,000 times.

After contracting pneumonia, Vargas' condition deteriorated and he was admitted to a hospital in Bagua. When his lungs were found to be surrounded by fluid, he was moved to a larger facility in Chiclayo.

On August 14, his condition drastically worsened. It didn't improve, even after he was given antibiotics and put on mechanical ventilation. He was unable to be revived after he suffered a respiratory arrest caused by fluid re-accumulating in his lungs.

Doctors also diagnosed Vargas with Hodgkin lymphoma, a rare form of cancer, while he was in intensive care. It is thought that this illness contributed to his deteriorating health, per OK! There are plans underway to repatriate his remains to his home city of Iquitos, Peru.
