Ben Affleck may have once promised Jennifer Lopez he was "Not. Going. Anywhere.," but that is, sadly, no longer the case — and fans are furious.
Hours after news broke that Lopez had filed for divorce from her husband of two years, fans recalled the message Affleck engraved into Lopez's engagement band — and they were not happy.
In November 2022, several months after the couple tied the knot in two separate wedding ceremonies that summer, the "Waiting For Tonight" singer, 55, told Apple Music's Zane Lowe that the hidden message in her ring held a deeply meaningful expression.
"Not. Going. Anywhere.," the Argo star engraved on Lopez's new band. (According to the Daily Mail, the Maid in Manhattan actress will keep the $5 million green diamond ring post-split.)
"That's how he would sign his emails when we started talking again," Lopez explained. "Like, 'Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere.'"
Now, in the wake of their divorce news, social media users were quick to call out Affleck on his seemingly broken promise.
"Ben Affleck had 'not going anywhere' transcribed on J.Lo's ring 😭," one person wrote via X (formerly known as Twitter), alongside a GiF of a woman laughing.
"It's ironic that their wedding band says 'not.going.anywhere' which is how Affleck signed off his emails to her when they started talking again," another person shared.
A third user claimed that Affleck was lying from "Day One."
"NOT. Going. Anywhere. A lie," they wrote.
Lopez and Affleck reconnected in 2021 after initially calling off their engagement in the early 2000s. They wed the following summer.
