Taylor Swift has officially spoken out regarding the attempted terrorist attack at her Vienna, Austria Eras Tour shows.

The pop star, who had to cancel her three-day stint at the Austrian capital's Ernst Happel Stadium on August 8, 9, and 10, released a statement on Instagram on Wednesday, August 7. Along with a carousel of top moments from the tour, Swift praised her crew and performers in the caption for their hard work on the tour, before pivoting into more serious matters regarding Vienna.

"The reason for the cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear, and a tremendous amount of guilt because so many people had planned on coming to those shows," the 14-time Grammy winner said to her fans.

Swift continued, revealing the reason behind her silence. "Let me be very clear: I am not going to speak about something publicly if I think doing so might provoke those who would want to harm the fans who come to my shows. In cases like this one, 'silence' is actually showing restraint," she said.

While the "Fortnight" songstress turned the comments off on her post, fans mostly had the same reactions to the 34-year-old's statement on X (formerly known as Twitter). "i hope every single person who dragged taylor for not speaking about vienna feels so incredibly guilty right now" said one Swiftie. Another fan noted, "Taylor deserves a huge huge apology from everyone who ever said a bad word about her regarding what happened in Vienna," while a third agreed, saying, "I truly think some of you hurt Taylor's feelings by screaming that she didn't care about the Vienna shows."

Thankfully, the Vienna attack was thwarted when two suspects were arrested, according to ABC News and Austrian outlet Kronen Zeitung. A 19-year-old Austrian citizen and another unidentified person were detained following a police raid on the teenager's residence, where they discovered various chemicals and substances.

Swift is currently on a break after her European leg of the tour, and is set to resume the Eras Tour on Thursday, October 18 in Miami, FL at the Hard Rock Stadium.
