Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign has joined Twitch which will stream her historic speech at the 20204 Democratic National Convention on Thursday.

Harris, 59, plans to use the platform to livestream speeches, engage directly with younger voters, and discuss key issues in real time. This move aligns with her campaign's focus on connecting with tech-savvy audiences who are increasingly turning to non-traditional media sources. The initiative reflects the growing importance of digital platforms in modern political campaigns, especially among younger demographics.

"The VP's address tonight will be one of the biggest moments of the entire campaign thus far — and we're making sure we're bringing her live to voters wherever they may be, Twitch included," Seth Schuster, a Harris spokesperson, told WIRED in a statement.

"Our job as the campaign is to break through a historically personalized media landscape, taking the VP and her vision for the future directly to the hardest-to-reach voters and those who will decide this election."

Kamala Harris' campaign headquarters has increasingly embraced social media as a central tool for voter outreach. Her team utilizes platforms like X, Instagram, TikTok, and now Twitch, to connect with diverse audiences, particularly younger voters.

The campaign's digital strategy focuses on real-time engagement, meme culture, and approachable content, aiming to make Harris more relatable and accessible. These platforms have been used for policy discussions and promoting events, responding to trending topics, and amplifying key messages during her political journey.

After Harris announced her presidential run on July 21 her campaign raised a staggering $81 million in just 24 hours. Harris also received an unexpected endorsement from British pop star Charli XCX. The singer tweeted, "Kamala IS brat," tying the vice president to the rebellious, carefree spirit embodied by her latest album, Brat.

Charli's concept of a "brat" revolves around a messy, unapologetic attitude, noughties excess, and a party-girl lifestyle. With this nod, Harris is now linked to a pop-culture vibe as much as a political movement.

In a TikTok from the Harris campaign last month, the Vice President positioned herself as the premier alternative to former President Donald Trump, featuring a cameo by rising pop star Chappell Roan. Accompanied by Roan's 2022 hit Femininomenon, the campaign contrasted images of Trump golfing and sporting his iconic "Make America Great Again" hat with visuals of Vice President Harris.

"But what we really need is a femininomenon," Roan's voice says as users scroll from Trump to Harris. "A what? A femininomenon!"
