The upcoming series is based on a character created by retired quarterback Eli Manning, who introduced the titular Chad Powers in a comedy sketch that originally streamed on ESPN+. Both Manning and Powell will serve as executive producers on the series.

Powell's rise to superstardom was no overnight journey. His first role came in the form of a small part in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over in 2003. He had a breakthrough as loveable himbo Chad Radwell in the 2015 series Scream Queens, but came to A-list fame through 2022's Top Gun: Maverick.

In an interview with Interview, Powell said he his slow-burn approach has led to a more fruitful career.

"I do believe that there's a natural breathing pattern to Hollywood where you give it all you got, you're in everybody's faces, and then you disappear for a hot minute and let them miss you, and then you come back," said Powell. "You have to buy into the longer journey. Trust in the decades-long career rather than the short and intense one."

In addition to Powell, Chad Powers will also star Steve Zahn, Toby Huss, Perry Matfield, and Quentin Plair.
