A spanner was thrown in the works during a recent episode of Joe Rogan's podcast when the show experienced a blackout, making him question whether to continue.

During the August 21 episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the podcast host was speaking to comedian Raanan Hershberg about animal Safaris and wanting to be in an Iron Man suit when the studio went dark numerous times.

Newsweek emailed a spokesperson for Rogan for comment on Thursday.

"What happened? Power went out?" Rogan asked his producer, Jamie Vernon.

When Vernon told Rogan that the only thing recording was the video, he asked whether they should keep going or not—and once again, the lights flickered in and out.

"Oh there it goes again," Rogan said, as Vernon explained: "It's the hottest day of the year, we might have that problem with the AC being overpowered but yeah, I mean, I'll turn everything back on."

When Vernon said the temperature was set to reach 107 degrees Fahrenheit, Rogan simply said "Oh God."

Rogan and his producer discussed whether to continue or not and since the camera was still recording, they pressed on. As Rogan continued his conversation with Hershberg, the light briefly went out again.

"I don't know what to do, we might want to stop for like five minutes to make sure this doesn't keep happening while we have the opportunity before it f**** up more. I don't know, your call," Vernon said.

"But it's recording right?" Rogan asked, to which Vernon responded: "Yeah but if it's, it, it's flickered four or five times.

"Right, what could possibly happen?" Rogan questioned, to which Vernon said, "It stops recording." Once again, the light flickered.

Vernon continued: "While we have a chance for it to stop [we] might want to take a break, that's all I'm saying."

They decided to pause the show and when they came back, Rogan joked that the power cut was the government "trying to ban free speech."

Vernon then revealed that there had been a local power outage and it may take two hours to get everybody's power back up, adding: "We got lucky I guess."

"Texas has its own grid which is great until it's not," Rogan quipped.

According to World Population Review, Texas is America's fourth-hottest state, with an average annual temperature of 65.8 degrees Fahrenheit.

Rogan and his family have been living on Lake Austin since 2020, which is where he also records the popular podcast. The podcast host built himself a state-of-the-art studio in his $14.4 million mansion in Austin.

During his appearance on the Oil and Whiskey podcast, Rogan was asked why his family decided to leave California for Texas.

"You know, I was, like, a lot of my friends were very skeptical because I was saying early on in the pandemic, I'm like getting the f*** out of here. I mean this place is going to s***. And they're, like, 'It'll be fine. It's gonna turn around; it's just everything's crazy right now,'" he said.

"I go 'Things don't get better, man. They don't get better under this government. They don't get better under these people. Like, they're clamping down on rights, they're clamping down on our ability to do things.' I'm like 'I'm gonna get the f*** out of here.'"

Rogan also revealed how happy he was with the decision to move, saying: "Austin is a f****** great town! The people are cool as hell; the food's amazing; and it's a great live music scene. It's just a great place to live and for comedians."
