Rose McGowan remembers fellow actress Shannen Doherty fondly, although she has expressed one regret about their complicated relationship following Doherty's tragic death back in July.

McGowan, 50, made an appearance on Doherty's podcast Let's Be Clear With Shannen Doherty on Thursday, August 22. The podcast has continued following Doherty's passing, with family members and friends carrying on the show in her honor. Doherty — who died at 53 following a battle with breast cancer — had originally planned to sit with McGowan for a conversation, and although the conversation unfortunately did not come to fruition, McGowan was happy to share some words and memories of her late friend.

"If I have any regrets, I wish I could have gotten to know her sooner," McGowan said of the Beverley Hills 90210 alum. "I don't know how it would have happened, but I wish we could have."

McGowan replaced Doherty on Charmed after her character, Prue Halliwell, was killed off, and McGowan joined the cast as the Halliwell's half-sister, Paige Matthews. During the podcast, McGowan recalled how the media tried to pit her and Doherty against each other.

She remembered frequently being asked questions regarding how she felt about Doherty and if she felt if the Heathers star was jealous of her.

"I refused to take the bait," McGowan said. "They wanted me to start a war with her, and I was like, 'Absolutely not. I will not start a war with her.' And to her credit, she absolutely did not do that either."

While Doherty had a reputation for being tough on set, McGowan remembered seeing her soft side many times. Elsewhere in the podcast, Doherty said the two both just enjoyed finding the humor in everyday life.

"The biggest misconception about her was that she was hard," McGowan said. "But at the same time, it was the truth, but it's not who she natively was. And I would say that was the biggest misconception about me as well. We both just like to laugh. Soft, underneath it all."
