A spokesperson for Ben Affleck has denied suggestions that the actor and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s daughter are more than friends.

Affleck and Kathleen "Kick" Kennedy have been making headlines after Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from the Goodwill Hunting actor on August 20—the two-year anniversary of her and Affleck's second wedding ceremony in Georgia in the summer of 2022.

An insider told People that Affleck and Kennedy had been "spending time together" since late spring. An insider told Page Six that the duo had been spotted at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel and other hot spots but that the nature of their relationship was unclear.

However, in a statement shared with Newsweek, Affleck's spokesperson said, "These reports are not true," adding that the pair was "not spending time together. Not more than friends."

Kennedy is the great-niece of President John F. Kennedy and was named after his sister Kathleen, whose nickname was also Kick. The younger Kick is the oldest daughter of RFK Jr., and his first wife, Emily Ruth Black.

Affleck and Lopez first tied the knot in Las Vegas in July 2022. They previously dated for a few years in the early 2000s but called off their first engagement in 2004.

Rumors circulated for months that the actor and the singer, once dubbed "Bennifer," were planning to split—with fans noting that the pair had been spending a lot of time apart and attending events without each other. One such moment was when Lopez was spotted at the Met Gala on May 6 without Affleck by her side.

A spokesperson for Affleck told E! News that the actor wasn't in attendance because he was filming The Accountant 2 in Los Angeles.

Earlier this year, reports said Affleck had moved out of the home he shared with Lopez. In July, the couple listed their 12-bedroom, 38,000-square-foot estate in Beverley Hills, California, for sale.

Adding fuel to the fire, on August 15, Lopez did not commemorate Affleck's 52nd birthday with a shoutout on social media. However, she was seen visiting his rental home in Brentwood, according to photos obtained by Page Six.

Kennedy's father, who has been running for president as an independent candidate, made his own headlines on Friday after suspending his campaign and endorsing former President Donald Trump.

The lawyer has faced a backlash from his siblings for supporting the Republican. In a Sunday opinion article in the Los Angeles Times, Max Kennedy criticized his brother's endorsement of Trump as a "hollow grab for power." Their sister Kerry Kennedy said that her brother's endorsement of Trump had left her "disgusted."

Both siblings also referenced their father, Robert F. Kennedy—the late Democratic politician and human rights advocate—and his legacy in their condemnation of their brother's endorsement.

Prior to exiting the race on Friday, RFK Jr. was the highest-polling third-party candidate in the race, garnering about 5 percent of the vote, according to national aggregate polls.
