Gwyneth Paltrow's Instagram Story just gave us a sneak peek into a big family milestone — her son Moses is college-bound. On Friday, August 23, the 51-year-old Hollywood star hosted a Q&A and answered a follower's burning question with a video that was both light-hearted and a tad sentimental.
"Have you dropped both kids off to college? I'm not okay...Cornell/Northeastern," the follower asked, reflecting the mixed emotions many parents feel during this time.
"Not yet," Paltrow replied, as she wandered through her garden. Just then, Moses, 18, made a surprise cameo in the frame, wearing a casual white T-shirt and a beach towel slung around his neck. "She hasn't quite gotten rid of me," he quipped, sparking a faux shocked expression from his mom.
Moses, whom Paltrow shares with ex-husband Chris Martin, is set to join the freshman class at Ivy League's Brown University. His departure marks a new chapter not just for him but for the award-winning actress and her husband, Brad Falchuk, as they prepare to have an empty house.
Chatting with The Sunday Times in March about her son, the Goop founder admitted the idea of a quiet household isn't exactly her cup of tea.
"In the fall Brad and I have boys that will be going off to university," she said. "It'll be interesting to see how the morning routine changes with no kids in the house." Paltrow's 17-year-old stepson, Brody — whom husband Falchuk, 53, shares with ex-wife Suzanne Bukinik — is also set to leave for college. Her daughter, Apple, 20, is a student at Vanderbilt University.
The Iron Man icon went on to say that she feels "incredible sadness." But on the other hand, she knows that this is exactly what should be happening. "Your kids are supposed to be, you know, young adults who can achieve and cope and make connections and be resilient. That's exactly what you want. And that means they leave the house," she explained.
Paltrow tied the knot with the 47-year-old Coldplay frontman in 2003, with the couple choosing separate paths in 2015. From their union came Apple and Moses.
