The Hallé’s new principal conductor Kahchun Wong shows he’s equally adept at balletic grace and Austro-German symphonic weightiness, by launching his first season with Britten and Mahler.

Manchester Collective

Britain’s boldest classical group plays Laurence Osborn’s Schiller’s Piano, inspired by a silent piano made by Second World War prisoners, alongside modernist Polish masterworks – and Tchaikovsky.

Britain’s best-loved chamber group celebrates its 60th anniversary with three anniversary concerts at Wigmore Hall, including this exploration of quintessentially English music.

EFG London Jazz Festival

Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival

A choir of singers who consider themselves “non-musical” – a piece for ten drum kits, and the string quartets of African-American visionary Wadada Leo Smith. As always, HCMF goes where other music festivals dare not tread.
