Hoda Kotb has reached a significant milestone with her two young daughters.

On the Wednesday, September 4 episode of Today with Hoda & Jenna, Kotb, 60, and her co-host Jenna Bush Hager, 42, discussed Kotb's children's first day back to school and the journalist's big move out of Manhattan. (Kotb was notably absent from the Tuesday, September 3 episode of Today to be there for her children on their first day of school, co-host Savannah Guthrie told viewers at the time.)

"I have a whole new town, a whole new school, and all the new things," Kotb, who has previously spoken about her big move, told her Today co-host.

Kotb was beaming as she described the joy of walking her two daughters, Haley, 7, and Hope, 4 — whom she shares with ex-fiance Joel Schiffman — to school.

"We went for our first day of school. I carried a coffee, and I had sneakers, and I walked with my kids to school! Like normal people! It was awesome!" the mother of two gushed. "I just loved doing it. I just haven't been able to do that. And it was so fun."

When reflecting on her time in Manhattan, Kotb explained it's been amazing to have her kids grow up around so much culture, but she also wants them to experience a simpler life — one that's more similar to how she grew up in West Virginia.

"We've had seven great years in the city with kids, and that's amazing, but I also think kids need to have their feet in the grass and in the dirt," she explained. "I love the city life and I wouldn't have traded any of those years."

For her part, Bush Hager, who shares three kids with her husband Henry Hager — daughters Poppy, 9, and Mila, 11, and son Henry "Hal," 5 — also lives in the suburbs and supported Kotb's decision to leave city life behind.

"Sometimes the simplicity of walking to school [is better]," Bush Hager — the daughter of former president Geroge W. Bush — noted. She also praised Kotb's fortitude and willingness to embark on her co-stars new journey, "bravery to take on a new chapter... the bravery to say this one's over, and here we go and watching your kids soar."

Kotb also shared an adorable back-to-school post with fans on Instagram. In the photo, the Virginia Tech alum can be seen wearing a red Team USA zip-up, cream-colored cargo pants, and white sneakers as she poses with her two little ones, who opted for denim overall-style dresses. Kotb also included a heartwarming video of her daughters hugging at school.

"First day of school in the books ❤️❤️," Kotb captioned the Wednesday, September 4 post.
