When it comes to replacing Pat Sajak on Wheel of Fortune, it appears that Ryan Seacrest still has a few puzzles to solve.

The television personality, 49, debuted as the new host of the nearly 50-year-old series on Monday, September 9. But social media lit up on Tuesday, September 10, when fans felt that Seacrest's instructions (or lack thereof) might have cost a player her win.

Airica Boyle of Taylor, Michigan picked up the $1 million wedge in her very first round of the game. At a later turn, however, the amateur Wheel analysts of X (formerly known as Twitter) felt that Seacrest did not adequately explain the possible consequences of Boyle's moves.

Boyle picked the letter "T," which showed up twice in the puzzle. Seacrest told Boyle, "So Airica, those two Ts are worth $2,000. You could keep those or you could risk them by seeing what's on the other side. It could be a bankrupt or it could be $10,000." What Seacrest did not mention was that if the other side read "bankrupt," she would also lose her million dollars wedge.

In fact, Boyle's move did reveal a bankruptcy wedge. "Gotta take the mystery and the million-dollar wedge," Seacrest apologized. "Sorry about that."

Boyle took her loss with grace, but Seacrest quickly drew comparisons to Sajak, 77, for not reminding Boyle that she would lose everything if she landed on "Bankrupt."

"Pat would've explained that if she took the risk she would've lost the million dollar wedge," said an X user. "Yes they do know the rules. But Pat always threw in extra tidbits." Another expressed the same idea, "Pat would always remind the contestants if they look under the $10,000 they could lose their $1 million wedge. Ryan needs to do this too..."

Wheel of Fortune contestants are always briefed on the rules at the beginning of the game, but some viewers felt that contestants deserve reminders when they're under pressure to win the game.

Many viewers expressed hope that Seacrest would continue to grow into his hosting role.

"Seacrest is doing okay but he's yelling a lot. He didn't help the poor woman reminding her she had a million on a mystery wedge. The rhythm is a tad off hopefully these will improve #WheelOfFortune," said one such critic.

"Remember, #WheelofFortune viewers: give Ryan more than one day, and he'll be with us. If you can give Pat 41 years, you can do the same for Ryan."
