The Bachelorette winner Devin Strader was shocked to hear that his ex, Jenn Tran, badmouthed him when discussing their breakup, and now he's telling his side of the story. According to Page Six, the 28-year-old deleted the video he posted on Tuesday, September 10 in which he explained his position.

Contrary to Tran's claims that Strader "ghosted" her the day after they got engaged and that he didn't want to go to couple's therapy, Strader said he personally scheduled therapy appointments for them.

"We went to a couple sessions together. On top of that, Jenn and I were also doing individual counseling with our respective therapists from the show at the time," he said in the video. He went on to say that Tran fired their couple's therapy counselor without asking him about it.

According to Strader's account, Tran refused to meet with him in person. "On the day that we broke up, [...] I did try to meet up with her," he claimed, adding context to Tran's claim that he ended their engagement in a "two minute phone call."

Strader went on to say that Tran would not agree to meet with him "if it was just going to be a breakup." Because of the lack of facetime, Strader felt he had no choice but to end the relationship over the phone. "She kinda forced my hand," he told viewers.

The reality TV star said it was "really, really disheartening to hear" the way she described their breakup on After the Final Rose, especially since she had sent him a text – which Strader provided screenshots of – saying that she would "always be rooting for him." He also mentioned how he didn't contradict her during the broadcast because he "didn't want to fight with her. That wasn't my intention. I never intended to go up there and bicker."

Many fans of The Bachelorette were not impressed by Strader's confessional video, particularly because he showed private messages sent between him and Tran on video, including some that "included private, personal, & sexual text. It can't be overlooked that Jenn is from a conservative culture & leaking these can do so much damage w her community," said one viewer.

One TikTok user commented on a repost of the video that they appreciated hearing Strader's side of the story. "Wait did y'all read the screenshots? It's very clear they have very different love languages and expectations of a partner. Long distance ruined them and Jenn's abandonment issues are deeply rooted." For the most part, however, viewers seemed to take Tran's side. "this was really telling. jenn spoke her side of the story without exposing any texts, devin did the opposite. he could've just said his side without exposing private text messages. this is toxic."

One simply commented, "he's trash," on X. Another compared Strader's speech to the performance of former President Donald Trump in the presidential debate. "Who looked worse today? Donald Trump or Devin Strader? #BachelorNation"

Ultimately, Strader posted an Instagram story in which he apologized "from the bottom of my heart" for sharing any "sensitive" information asserting that he had done so accidentally. That story was deleted as well.
