Fans are weighing in on Miley Cyrus' legal troubles after the pop star was hit with a lawsuit.

On Monday, September 16, TMZ reported the 34-year-old singer is being sued by Tempo Music Investments alleging Cyrus' 2023 hit single "Flowers" copied the harmony, melody, and chorus of Bruno Mars's 2013 chart-topping song "When I Was Your Man."

Fans immediately took to social media to share their opinions on the musical mayhem. Many people defended Cyrus, claiming this lawsuit feels like a money grab, and noted how Mars never made any lawsuits and has seemingly supported the success of "Flowers."

"Bruno Mars congratulated her on the success of the song and sent her flowers...why is she being sued," one person wrote via X (formerly known as Twitter), along with the crying face emoji.

"Tempo Music's rent must be due because Miley literally doesn't bother anyone," another user commented.

"Bruno himself understood there was no base for a lawsuit and even used Flowers in ads to promote his brand AND even billboard cleared the topic almost two years ago. Just money-hungry people," a Cyrus fan account tweeted.

In January 2023, Billboard published an article positing why the former Disney Channel star's song doesn't copy Mars'. "Not only are there no direct samples or obvious interpolations between 'Flowers' and 'Your Man,' there are no major sonic overlaps either — no obvious shared melodies or rhythms, no major similarities in production textures," Billboard argued. "Merely using some of the same words as an older song is not considered grounds for infringement."

However, some people think Cyrus is in the wrong and believe that Tempo Music Investments will win their lawsuit against the Superstar.

One person wrote on X, "Well yeah... it's partly their song lool if she didn't get their permission then this is an easy win for them. Even more embarrassing when it's her only Grammy."

Cyrus took home her first-ever Grammy Award earlier this year thanks to "Flowers," which won for Best Pop Solo Performance.
