They say good things come to those who wait — and in the case of Taylor Swift, time ultimately rewarded her with her dream man.
Swift and her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, both 34, are seemingly everywhere these days — at Kelce's football games, at Swift's concerts, and slaying as a couple at the U.S. Open. And given that cameras are on them at all times, it's a good thing they're both comfortable with fame, which is something Swift has always wanted.
In a 2011 interview with 60 Minutes — which has recently resurfaced online, Swift said that her ideal man is someone who is comfortable being in the spotlight.
"It's so heartbreaking when things click, but your comfort level with fame is so different than [the person you're dating]," said the "Mine" hitmaker at the time. "'Cause I don't care ... It doesn't matter to me who's looking, but it does to some people."
Swift continued, saying, "You couldn't really have a good relationship with someone who cares that much. It seems a little unnecessary to care that much about keeping people out."
This interview came about 12 years before Swift began dating Kelce, and the two of them frequently step out in public together.
But while the two are both comfortable with their notoriety and stature, Swift revealed in her 2023 Time Person of the Year profile that she and Kelce kept their relationship private in the beginning, before later making an appearance at one of Kelce's games.
"[W]e actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I'm grateful for, because we got to get to know each other," said Swift. "By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date."
Back in June, Kelce opened up about Swift's fame on an episode of the Bussin' with the Boys podcast, and praised how Swift handles her fame.
"She's very self-aware...," Kelce said. "She understands situations like that and I think that's why I really started to fall for her, how genuine she is just around friends and family. It can get crazy for somebody with that much attention, and she keeps it so chill and so cool. I can admire it for sure."
And it's a good thing Kelce's on board being in the public eye, especially as he is exploring new avenues. He will make his acting debut on FX's Grotesquerie, set to premiere Wednesday, September 25.
