Alec and wife Hilaria Baldwin made their first public appearance at an event after his Rust trial was dismissed.

On Saturday, July 20, the couple attended the Hamptons International Film Festival's SummerDocs series for a screening of War Game. Alec, 66, wore a dark blue suit jacket, blue button-down shirt, and gray trousers for the event in East Hampton, New York. He accessorized the look with brown loafers.

Hilaria wore a sleeveless, fitted pink dress, which she styled with textured, cream-colored stiletto heels. The mother-of-seven, who sported her hair in loose waves, showed off a big smile as she cuddled up to her husband. Alec also showed off a smile, and looked to be in good spirits at the event.

This was the first public event the couple had attended since Alec's involuntary manslaughter trial regarding the 2021 shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was dismissed. Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer dismissed the case on July 12, citing police and prosecutor misconduct, suggesting they had withheld evidence from the defense, per Page Six.

Had he been convicted, Alec could have faced up to 18 months in prison. However, the New Mexico judge condemned the "late discovery of evidence," saying, "If this conduct does not rise to the level of bad faith it certainly comes so near to bad faith to show signs of scorching."

This judgment was in reference to ammunition evidence the defense said was withheld from them, therefore hindering their case. The prosecution denied such claims, saying the ammunition they were referring to was not relevant to the case. At the news of the dismissal, Alec and Hilaria were both crying as they were seen sharing an emotional embrace.

Following the news, Alec took to social media to thank fans for their support. He shared an emotional image of himself from the trial, along with the caption, "There are too many people who have supported me to thank just now. To all of you, you will never know how much I appreciate your kindness toward my family."

Alec and Hilaria, who tied the knot in 2012, share seven children, Carmen Gabriela, 10, Rafael Thomas, 8, Leonardo Ángel Charles, 7, Romeo Alejandro David, 6, Eduardo "Edu" Pao Lucas, 3, María Lucía Victoria, 3, and Ilaria Catalina Irena, one. Alec also shares daughter Ireland, 28, with ex-wife Kim Basinger.
