Hollywood icon Tom Cruise is rumored to be performing a daring stunt at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

If the whispers around the entertainment and sports worlds hold true, this event is set to be a memorable convergence of cinema and athleticism and possibly a taste of things to come for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

The A-list actor, renowned for his adrenaline-pumping action sequences and commitment to performing his own stunts, has not commented on the rumors so far.

Newsweek reached out to the IOC on Monday for comment.

The 2024 Paris Olympics has already shown a unique blend of tradition and innovation, and Cruise's inclusion in the closing ceremony may elevate the event to new heights—literally. While official sources have remained tight-lipped, speculation suggests that Cruise may execute a stunt that could rival some of his most iconic feats in the Mission: Impossible movies.

Cruise was spotted wearing an Olympics badge while exiting a helicopter in London and also at The Games in Paris. He recently filmed the next installment in the MI series, Mission Impossible 8.

TMZ reported that the plan for the Paris closing ceremony involves the star rappelling down from the top of the Stade de France, landing on the stadium field, and carrying the official Olympic flag as he prepares to pass it on to Los Angeles for LA28.

The TV broadcast will cut to previously recorded footage, filmed in March, showing Cruise's airplane journey from Paris to Los Angeles before he sky-dives off the Hollywood sign. He will also be shown passing the flag on to other Olympians, including a cyclist, skateboarder, and volleyball player, according to TMZ.

Cruise, who is no stranger to extreme stunts, has a track record that speaks for itself. From clinging to the side of a flying airplane in Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation to performing a HALO jump from 25,000 feet in Mission: Impossible — Fallout, Cruise's dedication to authenticity and thrill has set new standards in action filmmaking.

These exploits have not only cemented his reputation as a daredevil but have also garnered admiration from fans worldwide.

The Olympic Games, historically a platform for showcasing exceptional human ability and spirit, would provide the perfect backdrop for Cruise's rumored audacious act.

As the world awaits confirmation, the prospect of Cruise performing a daring stunt at the 2024 Paris Olympics closing ceremony adds an extra layer of excitement to an event already steeped in anticipation.
