Johnny Depp showed off his recent transformation in a big way while he partied in the Caribbean on August 29. The actor, 61, flashed a new set of pearly whites in a series of Instagram posts by a Bahamas bartender at Lorraine's Cafe in Exuma.
The star of Jeanne Du Barry went viral when the film premiered at Cannes in May 2023, where social media users noted that his teeth looked brown, discolored and even rotten. "Seeing that pic of Johnny Depp's teeth on my tl just ruined my mood. That's enough Twitter for me," wrote one fan per Page Six. In 2012, Depp told The LA Times that he insisted on putting gold caps on his teeth to play Captain Jack Sparrow, which Hello magazine theorized might have caused permanent damage to the teeth.
Now, based on the footage of Depp in the Bahamas, it appears the actor has updated his smile with some major dental changes.
Depp's fans commented that the actor, who said he has "no further need for Hollywood" during that Cannes appearance, looked "Happier & healthier than ever" in the pictures and videos. Another noted that he seemed to have had a dental procedure. "Am I right too [sic] see that his teeth are locking [sic] brighter than ever before???" asked one fan, while another asserted, "Def got his teeth done! Looks so good." Yet another asked, "Is it ke [sic] or does his teeth look more straight?"
Depp seemed delighted as he helped the bartender mix drinks. He even referenced a well-known Captain Jack Sparrow quote from Pirates of the Caribbean. "I know why the rum will be gone," Depp quipped as he sampled some rum punch. "It's not gone yet, but I know how to make it go away." He encouraged the mixologist to "copyright" his signature drink.
While Depp is considered a controversial figure in the aftermath of his public divorce and defamation trial with Amber Heard — during which each actor accused the other of physical abuse — the Edward Scissorhands star's fans have long supported and defended him.
One such fan commented on the bartender's videos of the actor: "This made my day. 🥰🌹🏴☠️🦸🏻❤️🔥 Thank you for sharing and thank you for being good to my favorite human. 🙏🏼😇 " wrote the passionate Depp admirer.
