There is no shortage of WWE superstars who have made a splash in Hollywood.

Most recently, people have seen icons like Dwayne Johnson (The Rock), John Cena, and Dave Bautista (Batista) make the transition from the squared circle to the silver screen.

Even before that, wrestlers like Hulk Hogan and Rowdy Roddy Piper starred in movies that are now considered classics.

Still, with every superstar who has made their big screen debut, there are even more who didn't quite get there.

This includes former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest.

In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Vliet brought up rumors that Priest had been cast as Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022).

"It's a long story, but basically... it got taken away from me," Priest said. "But not from Marvel."

Priest then confirmed that he got the role, but the "regime" at WWE was a bit different at that time, so it wouldn't come to be.

Priest then said that he is open for another opportunity in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but doesn't regret how things turned out.

"It's funny because now, I'm busier than ever," Priest said. "Look, come what may, I'm good with it. Maybe I do something like that, I go a different route, and I'm not sitting here with you as the world champ. I won a world championship at WrestleMania. I don't know if that happens."

Priest began his career in Ring of Honor as Punishment Martinez, where he won the ROH World Television Championship.

After spending some time wrestling with ROH and New Japan Pro Wrestling, Priest joined WWE under the NXT brand.

At NXT, Priest eventually defeated Johnny Gargano, Bronson Reed, Cameron Grimes, and Velveteen Dream in a ladder match for the NXT North American Championship.

Priest would hold onto the title for 67 days before losing it to Gargano.

Soon, Priest would make his jump to the main roster after an impressive performance in the 2021 Royal Rumble, eliminating four people and lasting over 15 minutes.

Priest would then find himself with notable feuds against Sheamus, The Miz, and rapper Bad Bunny. Eventually, he would win the WWE United States Championship.

That being said, Priest's most memorable tenure was with The Judgement Day. Originally formed by Edge alongside Rhea Ripley, The Judgement Day would go on to become one of the greatest factions in WWE.

As a member of The Judgement Day, Priest would go on to win four Tag Team Championships, the Men's Money in the Bank match, and the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40.

Now, Priest remains one of the most popular wrestlers on the roster after forming the Terror Twins with Rhea Ripley. If things continue to go well for The Archer of Infamy, there's no doubt he'll get his chance with Marvel once again.
