Mindy Kaling could not hide her excitement at hanging out with second daughter, Ella Emhoff.

The actress and producer chatted with Vice President Kamala Harris' stepdaughter at the Tory Burch Spring/Summer 2025 show for New York Fashion Week (NYFW) before sitting front row for the parade. The model is the 25-year-old daughter of Harris' husband, Doug Emhoff, and his ex-wife Kerstin Emhoff, a film producer.

Kaling shared their reunion to her Instagram stories after they both attended the 2024 Democratic National Convention where Harris was officially nominated as the party's candidate for the presidential election in November.

She hosted the third night of the DNC, while Emhoff spoke on stage on its final night and endorsed her step-mom for commander-in-chief.

Kaling posted one selfie to her stories on Monday with Emhoff which she captioned "Ella!!!!!!!!" and followed it up with a photo of the pair standing and chatting at the fashion show.

Emhoff also worked at the NYFW, walking in the Coach spring show and attended the Proenza Schouler spring 2025 show on September 4. She was also seen at the Susan Alexandra and Rachel Antonoff dog show and the opening night of the Damson Madder pop-up store during NYFW.

She signed with IMG Models after President Joe Biden's inauguration in 2021, and since then has modeled for major labels such as Balenciaga and Maisie Wilen.

Along with speaking on stage at the DNC, Emhoff and her brother Cole Emhoff were tasked with being temporary campaign photographers when they were given disposable cameras to snap photos at the event.

Doug Emhoff shared a video of his kids to social media with the caption, "DNC 2024, as seen by temporary campaign photographers Cole and Ella Emhoff." In the video, an off-camera person asks Harris' stepchildren if they are going to the DNC, before handing them disposable cameras and asking them to take "cool photos" of the event.

But following the DNC, Emhoff announced she was pausing her Soft Hands Knitting Club, a knitting group open to the public in the interests of safety.

She made the announcement in a video on Instagram in late August, explaining she made the decision because she was "unable to conduct them, just to protect myself and other club members."

"The smartest thing is to just hold off until things calm down. But uh, yeah, it has been amazing working on this and meeting all of you and has just felt so special to just build this little community, and I'm going to keep working on ways to make it more accessible and keep—keep building it while I'm not able to properly teach and host these," Emhoff continued.

"So, yeah, I just want to say thank you to everyone who has been here with me so far. It's been pretty amazing. And I will be back, back to knitting—teaching knitting—I'm still knitting."
