George Clooney may be an Academy Award-winning actor, but some of his best acting comes in the form of epic pranks.

In an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that aired Tuesday, September 17, the actor revealed that he once pranked Tom Cruise by posing as his Wolfs co-star, Brad Pitt.

Clooney, 63, said that he had obtained false stationary designed to appear to be from Pitt, 60, and with it, wrote Cruise, as well as several of his peers, letters posing as Pitt.

"The Brad Pitt one was brutal. I sent it to Don Cheadle," he said "I sent it to Tom Cruise, saying they want to do [Interview with the Vampire 2], but this time Brad wants to play Lestat. And I sent it to Meryl Streep with a box of CDs for dialect and I said, 'This guy helped me with my accent in Troy and I think it could really help you.' "

Cruise, 62, and Pitt starred in the original Interview with the Vampire in 1994, in which the two play vampires living in the 18th and 19th century.

Kimmel himself had heard of this prank, and shared Brad's reaction once he discovered that he had been punked.

"Brad this afternoon said that Tom called him and said, 'Yeah, it's cool, you can play Lestat, that's fine, I'm OK with that,'" Kimmel said, "and he was like, 'What are you talking about?"'

While these pranks usually make for a good laugh, Clooney admits that the subjects of the pranks eventually catch on.

"There's usually some guess involved with me," Clooney said. "Usually somehow they figure it out."

Fans can look forward to seeing Clooney in Wolfs this Friday, September 20, when the movie arrives to theaters. Wolfs will be available to stream on Apple TV+ on Friday, September 27.
